What awards has Portugal won for tourism in recent years?
Portugal has secured multiple prestigious awards, confirming its status as the best destination for tourism globally. Recently, at the World Travel Awards, it was voted Best Destination in the World for the third consecutive year, highlighting its unmatched appeal. The country also received accolades for categories including Best Hotel, Best Resort, and Best Airline, showcasing the high standards of service and hospitality.
Key locations in Portugal have been recognised individually; for instance, Lisbon was awarded Best City Break in the World, while Madeira clinched the title of Best Island Destination. Such accolades not only enhance the reputation of these locales but also drive significant tourist traffic, benefitting local economies and property investments.
For prospective buyers, these recognitions translate to greater rental potential and property appreciation. As tourism continues to flourish, areas within Portugal become increasingly attractive, supporting a vibrant market for holiday homes and investment opportunities. Established properties in these award-winning regions can offer homeowners substantial return on investment while enjoying the beautiful culture and scenery.
Thus, investing in Portugal’s real estate aligned with its award-winning tourism could yield significant benefits. If you're considering purchasing a property in a top-tier destination, this is the moment to capitalize on Portugal's accolades. Whether you're looking for a vacation home or an investment opportunity, Portugal's award-winning status presents a perfect chance for you!
It picked up the gong for Best Tourism Destination in the World at a World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony on Thursday in Oman. Portugal also scooped 10 other awards: Best Hotel, Best Resort, Best Airline and Best Cruise Port among them.
Despite fierce competition, Portugal beat countries like Brazil, Cost Rica, Greece, Jamaica, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
This distinction “once again confirms that Portugal is the best tourism destination in the world. It is an honour to receive this award that distinguishes the excellence of Portugal and the Portuguese and raises the bar” said the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques in a communiqué.
“All of us must continue to work in reinforcing this International affirmation that Portugal has won” added Rita Marques.
